Spec and Student Work

While studying advertising at FSU, I had opportunities through courses to work with local clients, create mockups, and conduct research. Below are some examples of projects and mockups from my classes.

ExpeditionTLH to TallyVentures Campaign

The company ExpeditionTLH came to my advertising campaigns class wanting to bring more awareness to its brand and its mission. ExpeditionTLH offers tours and other services at some Tallahassee parks and works under the authority of the local government. ExpeditionTLH lacked a brand identity, a clear message, a target audience, and a clear description of the "product" they were trying to promote. Our job was to design a campaign to give ExpeditionTLH a brand identity and develop ideas to get more people to the parks.

During this campaign, I was the sole copywriter. I developed the executive summary and "big idea" and weaved that narrative throughout the plans book ending with the pitch. I also edited copy from other team members.

FSU-Teach is a program within Florida State University that allows STEM students to get an education degree with no extra time or cost. The program wanted to know why more STEM students weren't enrolling in the program. My team developed a survey using Qualtrics and inputted the stats into IBM SPSS, a data analytics software.

The Real Project FSU

The Real Project is a college-wide effort to educate students on safe drinking habits based on an annual survey sent out by universities asking students about their drinking habits. Our task was to develop a strategy to bring awareness to the project through social media, OOH media, and local partnerships. The goal was to emphasize the project as a "judgment-free" zone and act as a friend who provides advice and support.

This project aimed to simulate what media buying would be like if we had a client. In this case, the client was Tesla, a unique case in which this client is notorious for not paying for any advertising; all of their media is earned. The plans books highlight how and why we decided to on types of media, demographics, and geographics of our audience.

Frank's Hot Sauce 30-Second Spot

The task at hand was to develop a script for a Frank's Hot Sauce ad with a 30-second spot and 70 words or less. We were also to use the famous grandma Ethel or Eli Manning in the script and incorporate the memorable line, "I put that sh*t on everything."
